Last updated: 3 September 2026. JP Whyte Decorators is the data controller for information sent directly to this business through the website, by email or by telephone. We are a family-run painting and decorating business based in Leighton, Cheshire. Contact us at info@jpwhytedecorators.co.uk or on 07377 812846.

Information we may collect

When you ask a question, request a quote or become a customer, we may receive your name, email address, telephone number, property or site address, project details, preferred timescale, correspondence and information needed to prepare a quote or complete the work. Please do not send sensitive personal information through the website unless it is genuinely necessary and we have agreed how it should be handled.

Our hosting provider may also create technical security logs, such as IP address, browser information, requested page, date and time. The enquiry and admin forms use short-lived, one-way identifiers derived from an IP address to limit automated abuse; the raw address is not stored in those form records.

Website form submissions are also retained in a protected server-side enquiry record so that a message is not lost solely because an email notification is delayed or filtered. This record is not publicly accessible.

Why we use information and our lawful bases

  • To answer enquiries, arrange visits and prepare quotes: taking steps at your request before a contract and our legitimate interest in responding to customers.
  • To provide agreed decorating services and communicate about the work: performance of a contract.
  • To manage invoices, accounts, insurance and legal responsibilities: performance of a contract, legitimate interests and legal obligations where applicable.
  • To protect the website, forms and admin area from misuse: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
  • To use non-essential advertising storage: consent, where consent is required.

We do not make decisions about customers using solely automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Google advertising and device data

When Google advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may process cookie or consent identifiers, IP address, browser or device information, pages viewed and ad interactions. Depending on your consent and Google settings, this may be used to provide, measure and limit personalised, non-personalised or limited advertising, prevent fraud and produce reports. Google acts under its own terms and privacy information. Non-essential advertising storage is denied by default in the website code, and a Google-certified consent message must also be used where Google requires one.

Who information may be shared with

Information may be shared only where reasonably necessary with website hosting, email and IT providers; accountants, insurers or professional advisers; subcontractors involved in an agreed job; payment or banking providers; Google where its advertising or measurement services are enabled; and public authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell customer enquiry details.

International transfers

Some technology or advertising providers may process information outside the UK. Where JP Whyte Decorators is responsible for such a transfer, we use a provider that relies on an applicable UK adequacy regulation or contractual and organisational safeguards. You can ask us for further information about the safeguards relevant to information we control. Third-party websites explain their own transfer arrangements in their privacy policies.

How long we keep information

Ordinary enquiries that do not become customer work are normally kept for no longer than 24 months after the last meaningful contact. Quote, customer, invoice and accounting records may normally be kept for up to six years, or longer where a legal claim, insurance matter or legal requirement makes this necessary. Short anti-abuse form records operate on a rolling window of up to 15 minutes and are removed during the next automatic clean-up. Hosting security logs are retained according to the hosting provider's security and backup schedule. We may securely remove information earlier when it is no longer needed.

Project photographs, video and schools

Project media is used to show the standard and type of decorating work completed. We aim to avoid publishing names, documents, vehicle registrations, faces or other unnecessary identifying details. School project media is selected to show the decorated rooms rather than pupils. This website is not directed at children, and children should not submit personal information through the enquiry form.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct it, ask for erasure, restrict its use, receive portable information, or withdraw consent for future use. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are not absolute in every case, but we will explain our response.

Your right to object: you can object at any time to use of your information for direct marketing. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests by explaining your circumstances.

To make a request, email info@jpwhytedecorators.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before disclosing or changing information.
