01 / ENTRANCE & STAIRCASE

From plain walls to a coordinated entrance.

The entrance sets the direction for the rest of the house. We fitted beading to give the walls definition, then carried the painted finish through the connected hall and stair areas.

The comparisons follow the same spaces from several viewpoints. The photographs were taken at different stages and angles, so each is labelled to show what it records.

02 / UP THE STAIRS

Beading follows the height of the stairwell.

The tall stairwell walls needed a layout that worked with the changing levels. The new mouldings follow the stair area and continue around the window, bringing the separate views together.

03 / WALLPAPER & BEADING

A wallpaper feature framed by the new mouldings.

In the hallway, we fitted rectangular beading across the walls and hung a scenic wallpaper feature within the central panel. The painted mouldings frame the wallpaper and connect it with the rest of the scheme.

The earlier photograph below is a working-stage view: the beading is already fitted and colour samples are visible. It is shown as during decorating, alongside the completed feature.

The landing brings several doorways and stair sections together. Beading and painted finishes continue along the walls so the hall, stairs and landing read as one connected project.

Working with the sloping ceilings.

At the upper landing, the walls meet sloping ceilings, a roof window and low access doors. The beading layout works within these shapes, carrying the detail through to the final landing.
